Sweet-Sour Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium size head red cabbage
    2 c. cold water
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sliced onion
    1/2 c. oleo
    bacon bits
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. vinegar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Clean, core and shred cabbage.
    Put the cabbage with water and salt in a heavy saucepan; cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes. Cook the onion in margarine until golden.
    Add the sugar, flour, water, vinegar, salt and pepper to the onion.
    Cook and stir until smooth and thickened.
    Drain cabbage and add it to thickened sauce; mix well.
    Heat the cabbage through.
    Garnish with bacon bits.
    Serves 4 to 6.
