Lentil Soup ("Masoor Daal")(A Soup From India) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. lentils
    3 1/2 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. red chili powder
    ginger (optional) *
    1/4 tsp. garlic (optional) *
    3 tsp. lime juice
    coriander or cilantro sprig
    1/4 small jalapeno (if desired)
    2 tsp. oil
    1 tsp. cumin seed
Preparation
    *Ginger-Garlic Paste:
    If desired, 1 clove of garlic + 1 equal size of ginger needs to be ground to paste.
