Grandma Goldie'S Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. white syrup
    2 egg whites, beaten until stiff or will stand and refrigerated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 to 3/4 c. chopped black walnuts
Preparation
    Boil sugar, syrup and water until a soft ball is formed in cold water.
    Pour half of this mixture over beaten egg whites. Beat mixture with heavy spoon by hand.
    You will need a towel as this mixture is hot.
    Put rest of mixture back on stove and boil for awhile.
    Pour that over other mixture, beating all the time by hand. Add vanilla and nuts. Beat until mixture comes together. Pour in buttered platter.
    Cut in squares when cool.
