Caramel Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. milk
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
    Cook milk and 2 cups sugar on low heat until it is at a soft ball stage.
    Brown\tremaining sugar in heavy skillet; add butter and let
    simmer
    until
    sugar dissolves.
    Combine the 2 mixtures and add
    vanilla extract.
    Cool; stir and spread over cake.
