Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c. raisins (optional)
Preparation

Lightly grease and flour a shallow square pan.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and spices; set aside.
Cream butter and sugar together until thoroughly blended.
Add egg; beat until thoroughly blended.
In a small bowl, combine applesauce and raisins.
Add dry ingredients and applesauce-raisin mixture alternately to creamed mixture.
Pour batter into prepared baking dish for 12 to 13 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
