Easy Applesauce - cooking recipe

Cut washed apples coarsely; do not peel or core.
Place in heavy pan with tight fitting lid with just enough water to cover bottom and prevent scorching (add more only if necessary; apples will release juice as they cook).
Cook slowly over low heat until apples are completely soft and can be \"mushed\" with a spoon. Force through strainer to remove peels, seeds and cores. Applesauce will be slightly pink from peels.
