Old-Time Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef chuck
    1 large onion
    4 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    6 carrots
    2 to 3 diced potatoes
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 clove garlic
    tsp. Worcestershire
    1/4 tsp. paprika
    dash of allspice or cloves
    1 lb. small white onions or 1 big one, cut in fourths
Preparation
    Cut vegetables bias cut.
    Heat oil in Dutch oven; add beef, cut in 1-inch cubes.
    Brown 20 minutes.
    Add onion and garlic; cook 10 minutes.
    Add liquid ingredients.
    Cover and simmer 2 hours, until meat is tender.
    Add vegetables.
    Simmer 30 minutes longer.
