Chicken With Pastry - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 to 3 lb. chicken
1 onion
1 rib celery
1 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. all purpose flour
salt and pepper to taste
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. cold water
Preparation

Cook chicken in 3 cups water with onion, celery and 1 tsp. salt until tender over medium heat.
Remove from broth and debone. Cut into large chunks and place in bottom of greased 9 X 12 baking dish.
Remove celery and onion from broth.
Blend 4 Tbsp flour with 1/4 c. water and gradually whisk into simmering broth. cook for 5 to 10 minutes or until thickened.
Season with salt and pepper.
Pour enough sauce over chicken to just cover.
Preheat oven to 375.
