Buttermilk Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. (1/2 lb.) butter or margarine
    3 c. granulated sugar
    5 medium eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. thick buttermilk
    2/3 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cream butter; add sugar gradually.
    Cream well.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add flavor, if desired.
    If butter is of good flavor, omit vanilla.
    Add sifted flour alternately with buttermilk to which soda is added, 1/3 teaspoon to each 1/2 cup.
    Batter should be smooth.
    Bake in a 10-inch tube pan which has been greased and floured for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Cool for 10 minutes.
    Remove from pan.
