Huguenot Torte(From Charleston, South Carolina) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. nuts, chopped
    1/2 to 3/4 c. raw apple, peeled and chopped
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Beat egg until lemon colored and fluffy. Gradually add sugar. Beat until smooth. Set aside.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add to egg and sugar mixture. Add nuts, apple and vanilla. Generously butter an 8 x 8-inch pan or pie plate.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 45 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
