Apple Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 to 8 medium apples
    2 c. flour
    1/2 to 3/4 c. milk
    1 egg, well beaten
    shortening (to fry)
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Peel the apples; with an apple corer, remove the core, leaving apple whole.
Slice the apple crosswise in rings about 1/2-inch thick.
Make a batter with the flour, milk, sugar, egg and vanilla.
Use enough milk to make the batter thick enough to cling to the apple slices.
Dip each apple ring in the batter and place in hot shortening.
Fry until brown on both sides and apple is tender. Drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
