Ingredients

1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped dates
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. nuts, cut finely
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. Rice Krispies
about 1/2 c. coconut
Preparation

Combine egg, sugar, dates and shortening in a saucepan.
Cook, stirring constantly, at medium heat 5 to 7 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients.
Cool and form into balls and roll in coconut.
