Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
3 c. flour (sifted)
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation
-
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add molasses and blend in eggs. Add flour to which spices have been added.
Add flour and soda mixture with buttermilk alternately.
Cook in greased sheath pan in 350\u00b0 for about 25 minutes.
Serve with applesauce.
