Italian Honey Twists - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted flour
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. milk
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
    8 drops oil of anise (buy at drug store)
    1/4 c. honey, heated
    powdered sugar
Preparation
    Measure flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into sifter. Sift into large bowl. Scald milk with butter in small saucepan. Stir into dry ingredients, add beaten eggs, lemon rind and oil of anise.
    Mix to make stiff dough.
    Knead until smooth on floured pastry board.
    Roll out thin, a quarter at a time.
    Cut into strips 3/4 x 4-inches.
    Knot loosely.
    Let stand 5 minutes to dry slightly.
    Drop in deep fat heated to 375\u00b0.
    Fry, turning once, or until golden.
    Drain.
    Cool.
    Pile in a mound in serving dish. Drizzle with heated honey.
    Dust with powdered sugar.
