Salisbury Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 pkg. onion soup mix
    1/4 c. bread crumbs
    1/4 c. milk
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 (2 oz.) can sliced mushrooms or fresh is better
Preparation
    Thoroughly mix beef, 1/2 of onion soup mix, bread crumbs, milk and egg.
    Shape into 4 patties.
    Brown in skillet in shortening. Add remaining soup mix and flour; gradually stir in water and mushrooms.
    Cover and cook over low heat 25 minutes, stirring now and then.
    Serves 4.
