Squash Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 medium yellow squash, sliced
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3/4 c. cornmeal
    1/2 c. oil
    1 onion, chopped
Preparation
    Cook squash in water for 20 minutes; drain.
    Mash and drain again.
    Combine squash and all other ingredients.
    Drop by tablespoonfuls into hot oil and fry about 5 minutes or until brown.
    Makes about 2 1/2 dozen puppies.
