Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. thinly sliced squash
    2 c. sliced onions
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. celery seed (I use less)
    1 tsp. prepared mustard
Preparation
    Layer vegetables and salt.
    Let stand 1 to 8 hours.
    Drain off excess liquid.
    Heat all other ingredients.
    Pour over vegetables and bring to a boil.
    Put in jars and seal.
