Peanut Patties - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. evaporated milk
    3 c. raw peanuts
    1 tsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    red food coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Combine sugar, syrup, milk and peanuts in 3-quart saucepan, mixing well.
    Simmer for 1 hour.
    Beat in butter, vanilla and food coloring until creamy.
    Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper; shape into patties.
    Cool until firm.
