Clay For Making Holiday Ornaments - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
2 c. baking soda
1 c. cornstarch
1 1/4 c. water
Preparation
-
Put baking soda and cornstarch in a pan and mix well.
Stir in cold water until smooth.
Then cook over medium heat until the consistency of moist, mashed potatoes.
Don't overcook or clay will crumble.
Keep clay covered with damp towel.
When cool, knead it smooth.
Store in plastic bag.
Clay can be rolled out on wax paper and cut with cookie cutters to get shapes wanted for ornaments.
Use waxed paper to slide \"cookies\" onto a flat surface to dry overnight or until completely hard.
In damp weather it may take several days.
Decorate with paint or felt-tipped pens. Finish with spray shellac or plastic to make them more durable.
