Forty-Five Day Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 Tbsp. pickling salt
5 lb. sugar
3 drops oil of cinnamon
3 drops oil of cloves
vinegar
Preparation

Wash and cut off ends of cucumbers.
Pack in a big mouth jar with the cucumbers standing up.
Put 1 tablespoon pickling salt in the jar and fill the jar with vinegar.
Cover and allow to set for 45 days.
After the 45 days, rinse and chip the cucumbers.
Add to the cucumbers 5 pounds of sugar and 3 drops each of oil of cinnamon and oil of cloves.
