Russian Cuttletta Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large onions
    3 Tbsp. oil
    2 carrots, sliced into thin pennies
    3 Tbsp. flour
    2 coarsely chopped tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. tomato paste or small can tomato paste (if you have no fresh tomatoes)
    parsley
    basil (optional)
    salt and pepper
Preparation
    Saute onions in oil until clear.
    Add carrots.
    Saute until soft.
    Add flour and stir.
    Add chopped tomatoes and paste (or small can of tomato paste).
    Stir.
    Top off with enough water to fill the skillet, leaving room for stirring.
    Add parsley, salt and pepper and basil to taste.
    Simmer until thick.
