Angel Squares - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 whole egg
1 egg yolk
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg white
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add whole egg and egg yolk.
Beat thoroughly.
Add vanilla and dry ingredients.
Spread mixture about 1/2-inch thick in greased baking pan.
Beat egg white.
Add brown sugar and beat thoroughly.
Add vanilla and spread this over the first mixture.
Sprinkle nuts over top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
Cool and cut in squares.
(If you use self-rising flour, leave out salt and baking powder.)
