Ingredients

3/4 c. soft butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 (4 oz.) can slivered almonds, chopped in food processor
grated rind of 2 lemons
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
In a bowl, mix the butter, sugar and egg.
Stir in flour, almonds and the grated lemon rind.
Shape into 54 balls.
Put on greased cookie sheets, and with floured fingers, press each into thin 3-inch rounds.
Bake for 7 to 10 minutes, until edges are brown.
Cool 1/2 minute on cookie sheets, then cool on racks.
Store in airtight container in a cool dry place.
