Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. corn syrup
    2/3 c. water
    1 1/2 to 2 c. peanuts
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Mix water, sugar, syrup and salt; cook to soft ball stage (234\u00b0 on candy thermometer).
    Add peanuts to hard stage (300\u00b0 or crack stage).
    Take off heat.
    Put in butter, soda and vanilla. Pour into buttered cookie sheet and spread.
    Let cool.
    Break into pieces.
