Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. cider vinegar
    3 qt. water
    3/4 c. salt
    3 tsp. dill seed in each jar
    1 garlic clove in each jar
    3 pinches alum in vinegar
Preparation
    In a pan, cook the vinegar, water and salt to a rolling boil. Put pickles in jar.
    Pour solution over pickles.
    Add dill seed, garlic gloves and alum to each jar.
    Put seals and rings on jars. Place in boiling water bath; process for 5 minutes.
    Ready to eat in 6 weeks.
    Allows time for ingredients to mix well.
    Makes 6 quarts.
