Raisin Custard Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices bread, cubed
    1/4 c. raisins
    2 1/4 c. milk, scalded
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease a 1-quart casserole dish.
    Put bread and raisins in large mixing bowl.
    Add scalded milk; soak 5 minutes.
    Add butter, sugar, salt, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Pour into prepared casserole.
    Sprinkle with nutmeg.
    Put casserole dish in an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
    Pour 2 cups hot water in pan.
    Bake for 60 to 65 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
    Serve warm.
    Makes 8 servings.
