Great Grandmother'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. lard
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. molasses
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Sift all dry ingredients together.
    Cream shortening, butter and sugar.
    Add beaten egg, molasses and then dry ingredients. Add hot water last and beat until smooth.
    Bake in a greased shallow pan for 40 to 45 minutes in moderate oven at 350\u00b0.
    Yields 15 portions.
