Ingredients

3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract
2 c. coconut
candied cherries
food coloring, if desired
Preparation

Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until very stiff. Beat in sugar, one tablespoon at a time and beat again until very stiff.
Do not underbeat!
Fold in almond extract, coconut and food coloring.
Drop and press mixture lightly and add a cherry half.
Bake at 300\u00b0 until very light brown.
