World War I Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar
    2 c. hot water
    2 tsp. shortening
    1 pkg. raisins
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. hot water
Preparation
    Mix and boil for 5 minutes the brown sugar, hot water, shortening, raisins, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Cool, then add flour, baking soda and hot water. Bake in 9 x 13-inch greased pan for 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
