Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head lettuce, shredded
    1 c. coarsely chopped celery
    1/2 c. Spanish onions, coarsely chopped
    1/2 c. green peppers, coarsely chopped
    1 pkg. frozen green peas, separated
    1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 1/2 c. mild Cheddar cheese, shredded
    8 strips bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
Preparation
    Beginning with lettuce, layer the first 8 ingredients in the order given, ending with cheese.
    Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
    Sprinkle bacon over salad before serving.
    (May be made the night before.)
