Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 eggs, separated
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 small can coconut
    3/4 c. pecans
Preparation
    Cream butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy.
    Add egg yolks; mix well.
    Add soda to buttermilk.
    Alternate flour and soda with buttermilk; mix well.
    Stir in vanilla, coconut and pecans.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in 3 (9-inch) cake pans greased and floured for 25 minutes at 350\u00b0.
