Sauerkraut Cake Surprise - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 (8 oz.) can (1 c.) sauerkraut, drained, rinsed and finely chopped
    3/4 c. pecans or walnuts, chopped fine
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. cocoa powder
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. sour cream
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar until light; beat in eggs, one at a time.
    Add vanilla.
    Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream and water, beating after each addition.
    Stir in sauerkraut and chopped nuts.
    Pour into greased and floured 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
    Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Cool in pan.
    Frost with favorite chocolate frosting.
