Bobby G'S Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 slices bacon
    1 1/2 c. diced onion (about 3 medium onions)
    1 1/2 c. diced celery
    1/2 c. diced carrots
    1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
    7 c. peeled and diced potatoes (about 12 medium potatoes)
    water
    1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning
    1 tsp. garlic salt
    1 tsp. freshly ground pepper
    2 (10 oz.) cans whole clams
    2 (12 oz.) cans evaporated milk
Preparation
    Place the bacon in an 8-quart pot with a heavy bottom.
    Cook over medium heat until just browned; pour off the grease.
    Add the onions, celery, carrots and butter to the bacon; saute until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
