Old-Time Buttermilk Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    5 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1 c. Borden's buttermilk
Preparation
    Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda into bowl.
    Add shortening and cut in with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Add buttermilk all at once; stir until dough follows fork around bowl.
    Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead 1/2 minute.
    Roll 3/8-inch thick; brush with melted fat.
    Fold over and cut double biscuits.
    Bake on ungreased baking sheet in hot oven (450\u00b0) 12 to 15 minutes.
    Makes 14 to 16 biscuits.
