Italian Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. seedless raisins
    2 c. water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. soft butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 large eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    3 c. flour
    2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Cook raisins in water 10 minutes.
    Strain and reserve 1 cup liquid.
    Add baking soda to reserved raisin liquid; set aside. Cream together butter, sugar, eggs, salt and spices until fluffy. Add flour and liquid alternately beating well after each addition. Stir in raisins and nuts; beat thoroughly.
    Pour into a well-greased 1-inch tube pan.
    Bake in preheated oven at 325\u00b0 for 1 1/2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean.
    Cool on rack before removing from pan.
