Savory Pot Roast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 lb. lean beef roast
    1 onion, sliced
    1 c. water
    1/4 c. ketchup
    1/4 tsp. dry mustard
    1/4 tsp. marjoram
    1/4 tsp. rosemary
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 bay leaf
    3 to 4 potatoes
    3 to 4 carrots
Preparation
    Brown meat on all sides in small amount of oil.
    Season with salt and pepper.
    Add onion.
    Mix all other ingredients except potatoes and carrots and add to roast.
    Cover and cook slowly for about 2 1/2 hours.
    Add potatoes and carrots the last 45 minutes of cooking time.
