Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. whole milk
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    4 sq. chocolate
    4 Tbsp. butter
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Place chocolate and milk in a heavy saucepan.
    Cook and stir over very low heat until blended.
    Add sugar and salt; stir over medium heat and heat to a boil.
    Continue boiling, without stirring, until a little forms
    a soft ball in cold water (or to 234\u00b0).
    Remove from heat.
    Add butter and vanilla; cool to lukewarm (110\u00b0).
    Then beat until mixture holds its shape.
    Pour at once into buttered 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Cut when cold.
