Grandma'S Lemon Cake - cooking recipe

2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
3 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. Crisco
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 egg whites, beaten stiff
2 c. sugar
7 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
6 lemons, juiced or 1/2 c.
4 Tbsp. butter
2 egg yolks, beaten
Preparation

Mix shortening and sugar. Sift flour and baking powder.
Add to shortening mixture alternating milk.
Mix well, beating 2 minutes. Add vanilla and fold in the egg whites.
Bake in 2 or 3 layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
