Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. quick oats
    1 1/4 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    1 1/2 c. white sugar
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 c. nuts (optional)
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over oats and let stand until cool.
    Blend shortening, sugar and eggs. Add oats and mix well.
    Add dry ingredients and mix well. Add vanilla and nuts.
    Pour into a 9 x 12-inch pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
