Caramel Chip Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. margarine, melted
    32 caramels
    5 Tbsp. cream
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) chocolate chips
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients in bowl.
    Add margarine and mix well. Press half the mixture into 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Melt caramels with cream in double boiler, blending well.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips on baked layer. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate chips.
    Sprinkle crumb mixture over top.
    Bake for 15 minutes longer.
    Cut into squares when cool. Yields 24 servings.
