Beef Stew Bourbonnais - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 can tomato soup, undiluted
    3/4 c. dry red wine
    1/4 c. water
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1/2 c. ketchup
    carrots, celery and potatoes
Preparation
    Brown beef in shortening.
    Add garlic and onion.
    Saute until onion is transparent.
    Add salt and pepper.
    Stir in the soup, wine and water.
    Cover; simmer 30 minutes.
    Add basil, thyme and ketchup.
