Bertha'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. Crisco
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Mix sugar and shortening; add eggs one at a time.
    Beat well. Put baking soda into buttermilk and stir.
    Add this to sugar mixture.
    Sift flour and cocoa together and add this together, mixing well.
    Put in boiling water and vanilla last.
    Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan and cook at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Put your favorite chocolate icing on top.
