Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 Tbsp. molasses
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    3 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
    3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1 pkg. Reese's peanut butter chips (optional)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0; grease a 10 x 15 or 9 x 13-inch pan. In a large bowl, beat brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
    Add molasses, vanilla and eggs; blend well.
    Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off.
    Stir in oats, flour, baking soda and salt; blend well.
    Stir in chocolate chips (and, if desired, peanut butter chips and chopped nuts).
    Spread in pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes (until light golden brown).
    Cool slightly and cut into bars.
