Oatmeal Cake - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. quick oats
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Pour boiling water over oats and mix well. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Beat in eggs; stir in soaked oatmeal. Sift flour and remaining dry ingredients. Stir into oatmeal mixture. Pat into 13 x 9 x 2 pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan. Spread with topping. Broil until golden, about 2 to 3 minutes.
