Ingredients

1 lb. cooking apples
4 oz. sugar (1/2 c.)
1 Tbsp. water
2 oz. margarine (1/2 cube)
1 egg
2 oz. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
cinnamon to taste
Preparation

Peel and slice the apples and put them into a pie dish with 2 ounces of sugar, cinnamon and the water.
Cream the fat and remaining sugar and beat in the egg.
Stir in flour and baking powder. Spread this mixture on top of the fruit.
Bake in a moderately hot oven at 400\u00b0 for about 1/2 hour until the fruit is cooked and the cake mixture well risen and golden.
