Icicle Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. (4-inch) cucumbers
    6 small onions, peeled and quartered
    6 (4-inch) pieces celery or 1 1/2 tsp. celery seed (1/4 tsp. to each jar)
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 qt. white vinegar
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. salt
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Wash cukes and cut lengthwise into fourths or eighths.
    Soak in ice water for 3 hours.
    Then drain and pack in pint size jars. Add onions, celery and 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seed to each jar. Combine vinegar, sugar, salt and water.
    Bring to a boil and pour over cukes to within 1/2-inch of the top.
    Seal and process in boiling water for 10 minutes.
    Very crisp and delicious.
    Makes 6 pints.
