Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. chopped dates
1 2/3 c. cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
pecans (optional)
1 c. boiling water
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
Preparation

Pour water over dates; let stand until lukewarm.
Cream butter and sugar together.
Add egg and vanilla flavoring.
Sift flour, salt and soda together and pour into mixture.
Add nuts and dates with water to the flour mixtures.
Stir and pour into pan lined with wax paper.
Bake for 1 hour at 300\u00b0.
