Sweet And Sour Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head red cabbage, shredded
    3/4 c. sugar
    2/3 c. vinegar
    1 bay leaf
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Add all ingredients; simmer 1 hour, covered.
    Cover and refrigerate.
    Serve hot or cold.
    Best if cooked one day ahead.
