Foolish Pie(1953 Recipe) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 egg whites
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Beat egg whites to partial froth and add salt and cream of tartar.
    Continue beating until mixture holds shape.
    Add 1 cup of sugar, all at once.
    Beat until mixture holds shape.
    Then add 1 cup of sugar, gradually, beating slightly.
    Add vanilla. Pour in a large baking sheet with greased brown bag at bottom.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
    Should be dry and crisp.
    Cut into 24 squares and serve with strawberries and whipped cream or bitter-sweet chocolate.
