Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
2 unbeaten egg yolks
1 c. hot water
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 beaten egg whites
1/2 c. sour milk

Preparation

Cream shortening with the mixture of sugar and cocoa.
Add and mix the unbeaten egg yolks.
Add the hot water into all; stir until smooth.
Sift the dry ingredients and add to the batter, then add the sour milk.
Fold in beaten egg whites last.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven.
Can be layer or sheet cake.
